How to move a dishwasher<\/h1>\n

Are you moving into a new house, apartment or condominium and want to bring your household appliances, including your dishwasher, with you? Whether you need to move your dishwasher to another unit in the same building, a few blocks down the street, to a neighboring city or over a long distance, you\u2019re better off being prepared and knowing how to proceed. Before moving your dishwasher<\/h2>\n

Prior to moving your dishwasher or any other household appliance, you must take a number of precautions. The fact is that moving these types of electrical equipment involves a different method than the one used to move furniture or boxes. In the case of a dishwasher, you will need to drain it before you can move it. To do this, just follow the steps outlined below.<\/p>\n

1. Unplug the dishwasher<\/h3>\n

3. Evacuate any standing water<\/h3>\n

4. Clean the filter<\/h3>\n

Remove the lower rack, wipe away any residue, and thoroughly clean the filter and filter assembly.<\/p>\n

Transporting and installing your dishwasher<\/h2>\n

A dishwasher weighs between 30 and 55 kilograms. Two people can move it easily with a dolly or moving straps. However, you\u2019ll still need to be careful, as this appliance doesn\u2019t have anything to hold on to. Before moving it, remove both racks and close the door, fastening it shut with tape, if necessary. Also, be sure to attach the hoses and the electrical cord firmly to the back of the dishwasher. In the moving truck, secure the appliance with blankets and straps to prevent it from moving around during transport.<\/p>\n
